Still Born blue book

Still Born by Guadalupe Nettel

Set mainly in Mexico City, this is a book about two friends and their different and changing views on motherhood. Will embarking on the journey of motherhood change everything? How do you stay true to yourself? What will happen to your old life? What happens when ideologies converge?

It’s a slim book that certainly packs a punch, with lots of ethical and emotional dilemmas. I like its rather measured and cool approach. There’s a lot going on, but the book doesn’t gush or over-explain. It has a feeling of a memoir, something also reminiscent of modern French literature.

Beautiful exploration of friendship during your 30s, when things are changing fast. It feels very honest.
