I actually really enjoyed this one! I say “actually” as I wasn’t sure about the blurb (another 30-something London breakup story). But, infuriating as he can be, I actually loved the narration by the man of the story! He is ridiculous and frustrating, but I think that’s kind of the point?
It’s a funny and poignant story about what we want in life vs what we’re meant to want, community, personal happiness, and the secret world of couple intimacy, and what to do/feel when that door is closed to you.
Some great cameos and characters here in the supporting roles. There is a type of banality to the main couple, but I don’t really mind it. Didn’t really care about the comedy angle, expect when it came to the “career crisis”.
Great depictions of friendship dynamics and some interesting insights on relationships and power dynamics.
An entertaining read.
